MPCala Holdings Inc., a branch of Metro Pacific Investments Corp., said it is confident it will achieve the original proponent status (OPS) for the P22.43-billion Cavite-Batangas Expressway next month.
“We are hopeful that the OPS will be issued soon,” MPCala Holdings president and chief executive Luigi Bautista stated Thursday.
The Public Works Department said the OPS letter for CTBex was set to be signed by Secretary Mark Villar.
CTBex is a proposed 49-kilometer expressway that will attach Cavite and Batangas, with a spur highway to Tagaytay City and ultimately ending in Nasugbu, with another spur road to Tuy, Batangas.
Bautista told the CTBex project was anticipated to start construction by the first quarter of 2019.
Once finished, the scheme would cut travel time from Sta. Rosa, Laguna to Nasugbu, Batangas from 2.5 hours to just an hour. The project was planned to be built by the first half of 2022.
CTBex will begin at Silang East Interchange of Cavite-Laguna Expressway. The alignment will cross the towns of Silang, Amadeo, Mendez, Alfonso, and Tagaytay in Cavite and Nasugbu in Batangas.
